Hayden Boyd

Fire Chief

Hayden Boyd was appointed Chief of the Duncan Valley Rural Fire District in 2013. Chief Boyd was home grown within our organization, following in the footsteps of his father (Bradley Boyd) and grandfather (Wylie Boyd), who both served as Fire Chiefs in Duncan. Chief Boyd was the first participant in the Junior Firefighter Program at DVRFD and when he reached the age of 18, he became a sworn member of the organization. Chief Boyd received his initial Firefighter I & II certification and Wildland Firefighter II certification through the Gila Institute for Technology in Thatcher, AZ. He continued his education and graduated with an associate's degree in Fire Science from Central Arizona College in Coolidge, AZ.  He also received his Paramedic certification in 2015 through Eastern Arizona College in Thatcher, AZ.

Because this is a volunteer organization, this is not Chief Boyd's only job. He is primarily employed by Freeport McMoRan as a member of their Rescue Team. Prior to that, he worked for about 12 years both as an EMT and a Paramedic with Greenlee County EMS where he also served as the EMS Operations Supervisor for 3 years. Chief Boyd also worked as a Paramedic with American Medical Response in Safford, AZ and has taught as an Adjunct Instructor for EMT and Paramedic Programs at Eastern Arizona College. Chief Boyd serves as a member of the LEPC of Graham & Greenlee Counties and the Vice-Chairman of the Eastern Regional Advisory Council for the Arizona Department of Homeland Security.
